Imagine this! Your boss has just come to you and expressed the need for a corporate yoga program for your company.
Your boss does not know exactly what he or she wants or needs in a corporate yoga class, but leaves you in charge to figure this out.
Immediately, you take on the task, on top of the 1,000 other tasks you have going on.
Step 1: *Google Corporate Yoga Class*
How do I know this person is reliable, experienced, or qualified?
Will my employees even take these classes?
Is the program even good?
STOP! There is a better way.
In today’s blog, we’re going to walk you through what to look for in a corporate yoga program and a few options to consider for your organization.
Let’s dive in!
Corporate Yoga: What To Look For in a Program
Here at Paragon Body, corporate yoga is a part of what we do with companies like Zoom, Qualcomm, and more every day.
That’s why we asked the head of our corporate yoga classes, Marissa Victoria, to give us input on the most important factors to look for when seeking out a corporate yoga program.
“You want to make sure the yoga classes are fun and dynamic, and at the end of the day, offer more than just yoga. I make sure to weave yogic philosophy, pranayama, meditation, biomechanics, and alignment into every yoga class to nurture physical, spiritual, and mental health.”
As a guide, here are 6 key questions you want to ask your corporate yoga instructor before signing on:
What is the average attendance rate for your corporate yoga classes?
This is critical! A common complaint among many corporate yoga programs is that there is never enough buy-in among employees. You want to make sure the yoga instructor is inspiring, energetic, and inclusive to ensure your team gets the most out of any wellness program you provide.
What types of yoga do you incorporate?
There are so many varieties of yoga available that you never want to get stuck with just one. Make sure the corporate yoga program you use incorporates many types of yoga, from restorative Yin to Vinyasa, in order to keep employees interested and committed.
Do you offer virtual classes?
In today’s COVID-19 world, it’s more important than ever to offer a combination of in-person classes and virtual yoga - or just virtual yoga. Ask each corporate yoga program to show you a demo of their Zoom setup and what you can expect class-to-class.
Is the audio clear? Is the teacher engaging through the screen?
There’s nothing worse than a poor quality Zoom class! Make sure the setup is high quality and professional in order to ensure participants continue to come back to each class.
What credentials do you have as a yoga instructor?
This seems like an obvious one, but an important one to include in this day & age. You want to make sure that the yoga instructor is qualified and has the credentials to show it. And no… attending many yoga classes does not make one a qualified yoga teacher!
Do you offer any other wellness activities such as stretching and meditation?
What does the corporate yoga program offer aside from yoga? Here at Paragon Body, we provide other wellness classes such as nutrition, stretching, fitness, and meditation alongside our corporate yoga program in order to provide something for every employee.
After all, employee wellness goes far beyond only yoga.
To get the best out of your employees, we recommend looking into a comprehensive wellness program that offers something unique for every employee. Best of all, it’s more bang for your buck!
Do you offer a trial?
Last but not least, ask each corporate yoga program if they can provide a short trial at a reduced rate in order to try the program before signing on. After all, you can never quite tell what the program will be like - or how engaging the instructors will be - from a website.
If a company refuses, that’s a huge red flag.
Corporate Yoga: Our Recommendations
In summary, we want to say a big kudos to you and your organization for even looking for a corporate yoga program.
Corporate wellness can drastically improve the lives of your employees, and in turn increase productivity and focus across the workplace.
Here are a few of our final recommendations:
- Hire a company with energetic and passionate instructors - this will keep employees coming back for more.
- Hire a company that does more than just yoga - this will make for happier employees and more bang for your buck. Rather than paying separately for a nutritionist, yoga classes, and the occasional meditation class, it’s much more economical to find a comprehensive wellness program to meet all of your needs.
- Hire a company with amazing reviews! Unbiased, neutral Google reviews are a great indicator of what you can expect with
- Make sure to trial it first. You don’t want to get locked into a long-term contract with a program that nobody attends.
- Last but not least, start your corporate yoga program today! In our post-COVID-19 world, employees need mental and emotional support from their workplace more than ever. Corporate yoga is a fantastic way to relieve stress, improve employee morale, and stay connected while away from the office.
